Audience
In April 2024, at the 2nd ABON , we welcomed 1,300 audience members from across China, drawn together by their deep passion for experimental music or by a newfound, profound curiosity about it.
The first day featured a variety of themed workshops, followed by live performances on the second and third days that extended from the afternoon until late into the night. Young audiences moved across the floor, with the air buzzing and humming, as a strong sense of connection began to form.
The hearts are hungry, impulsive, and repressed; eagerness to be unpacked hits the energy that needs to be turned on, fueling the release of unholy power—an exchange of forces, where noise itself becomes the essence of this unveiling.

2025 A Bunch of Noise in Shanghai calls for radical innovation and audacious experimentation in experimental music on the global scene. Over three days, this cutting-edge gathering will unleash a torrent of unconventional sounds, daring commissions, and immersive performances. Entering its third year, the festival is a platform for pushing the boundaries of sound and embodied practices, encouraging the creation of avant-garde auditory experiences. With a focus on fostering unconventional new works, it invites musicians, artists and audiences alike to engage with and redefine the frontiers of sound in a continuously shifting transnational landscape.
